We are happy to invite you to meet Brendan Bank, former CTO of multi-billion European giant Booking.com.
He has been working in Booking.com since 2008 starting from Director of Engineering and then becoming CTO until 2017. Shortly after joining the company, Brendan created a unique software development and operations environment consisting of small, agile, multidisciplinary teams.
At Booking.com, experimentation is an important part of product development cycle. On a daily basis they implement, deploy to production, execute and analyse hundreds of A/B tests to quickly validate ideas. These controlled experiments run across all products, from mobile apps and tools used by accommodation providers to customer service phone lines and internal systems. Experiments allow to deploy new code faster and more safely, to turn off individual features quickly — and in some cases even automatically — when needed, and help validate that our product changes have the expected impact on the user experience.
📢 Theses of Brendan:
💬 “The best way forward for us has been organized chaos. Data driven decision making and data driven product development are the keys to our success”.
💬 “To build a product to get global adoption, you need access to other cultures”.
💬 “Create a bottom-up culture where failure is built-in to the system”.
